Product Overview

BIOXAM™ is an insecticide containing Bifenthrin 10% + Thiamethoxam 5% SE, formulated for effective management of important insect pests in paddy (rice). As stated on the product leaflet, it is recommended against Stem Borer, Leaf Folder, Gall Midge and Brown Plant Hopper (BPH) and is intended for use when insect populations reach the economic threshold level (ETL).

Application Guidelines

Apply the insecticide as a foliar spray when insect populations reach the recommended economic threshold level. The leaflet recommends application during the early morning before sunrise or in the evening, under clear weather conditions without rain or high wind.

The recommended application method is foliar spray. Suitable equipment includes a knapsack sprayer, high-volume knapsack sprayer, power/battery-operated sprayer, compression knapsack sprayer or foot-operated sprayer. A hollow cone nozzle is specified on the label.

Mixing Instructions

Begin by filling the spray tank approximately 1/3 to 1/2 full with clean water. Do not put the insecticide into an empty tank and then top up with water. Start agitation, add the required quantity of BIOXAM™, and continue agitation while filling the tank to the required volume. Avoid overflow and do not leave the spray tank unattended.

Application Frequency

The leaflet specifies two or three applications per crop cycle at 15-day intervals, subject to the pest situation and label recommendations.

Important Precautions

Avoid spraying when pollinators are active. The leaflet specifically advises avoiding application during flowering when bees and other natural pollinators may be present. It is also not recommended for use in confined areas such as glasshouses or polythene houses.
